Economic security

Millions of people struggle to meet their most basic daily needs, leaving them extremely vulnerable to economic shocks or disasters. Children are often the first to feel the affects, being forced to go hungry or leave school to earn an income for the family.

Plan works with poor children and families to build up their income and assets, helping them to become more resilient and better placed to cope when the worst happens.

We also help young people to acquire the skills and knowledge they need to secure a livelihood so that they can support their families and break the intergenerational cycle of poverty.

In 2010 Plan trained 98,737 people in agri-cultural, vocational and business skills, benefiting more than 5,022 communities.
