Photo Exhibitions - 2010
Photo exhibition depicts the lives of world’s poorest children
This year, in a bid to meet supporters, listen to feedback and put faces to names, Plan Ireland is bringing a Photo Exhibition entitled "Because I am A Girl" to various locations around the country.
Thanks to the kind support of the Western Union, such events have now taken place – in Mitchelstown, Galway, Naas, two in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Killarney, Kilkenny and Sligo - and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Plan has received some excellent suggestions about how to improve communications with sponsors and generally do things better.
The exhibition comprises excellent photographs by several photographers including award winning Reuters photographer Finbarr O’Reilly who won the prestigious World Press Photo of the Year Award in 2006.
O'Reilly's images depict the lives of girls in Burkina Faso, one of the world’s poorest countries, they are extremely vibrant and positive despite the fact that life for children in Burkina Faso is extremely difficult and could not be more different from the lives of Irish children. .
To date, the exhibtion has visited the following areas:
- Mitchelstown
- Naas
- Galway
- Dublin (x2)
- Killarney
- Cork
- Kilkenny
- Sligo
Locations planned so far for 2010 include:
- Monaghan - TBA
- Athlone - TBA
- Waterford - TBA
Full details (dates, times, venues etc.) will be posted and we will be in touch with all sponsors in each areas nearer the time. We hope to see you all there!
